Compress an image to the exact size limit you need
Government portals, job applications, exam forms and email attachments often reject files above a fixed size. This free compressor works with JPG, PNG and WebP photos. Pick 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB, or type your own limit, and the tool keeps trying until the real output file sits at or under that number.
How to compress an image to 100 KB
- Open your image. Tap the box above or drop the photo into it.
- Choose 100 KB. Leave "Reduce dimensions if needed" on for very large phone photos.
- Compress and check. Look at the preview, then download once the result shows it is within your limit.
The tool lowers quality step by step and, if you allow it, shrinks the pixel size a little at a time. It measures the finished file in bytes, so the number you see is the number the upload form will see.
Resize a photo to 50 KB or 200 KB
For photos, JPEG is the safest choice for most forms. That is how a large phone photo can reach 50 KB while faces and signatures stay clear. A 200 KB target keeps more detail and suits ID photos and scanned certificates saved as images. Need an exact passport or signature size such as 200 × 230 pixels? Turn on custom dimensions and enter the numbers before compressing.
Which size should you choose
| Need | Suggested setting |
|---|---|
| Photo for an online application | JPEG, 50 KB to 100 KB |
| Signature scan | JPEG, 20 KB to 50 KB, custom dimensions |
| ID card or certificate photo | JPEG, 100 KB to 200 KB |
| Image for a website | WebP, 100 KB to 200 KB |
File size and dimensions are two different limits
File size is how much storage the file takes, shown in KB or MB. Dimensions are the width and height in pixels. A photo can be exactly 600 × 600 pixels and still weigh 900 KB. This tool lets you control both. We count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, which means a result that fits here also fits forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes.
Private by design
Nothing is uploaded. Your browser opens the image, compresses it in memory and hands you a new copy, and we do not save your files. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how many images you compress. It works on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook in any current browser.
